Master's Chair

An hour at Chair I with Jessica Mitchell, the owner of the shop. Booked by appointment only, never as a walk-in. Master’s Chair is for the work that takes a steady hand and an unhurried eye.

What you get

A full hour. Within it, any combination of:

• A scissor cut, taken slowly with extra time for the part-line and the neck.
• A straight-razor shave with two passes and an alum finish.
• A beard re-set if you keep one.
• A long conversation about the chair, the room, the trade, or whatever you brought to the chair with you.

What you don’t get is rush. Master’s Chair runs an hour because that is the time the work asks for; it is not a Treatment with a different name. If you want everything done in ninety minutes, book The Full Treatment instead.

Why it’s a separate service

Jessica has been cutting hair since 2010 and has been the woman behind the counter at Waterloo since the shop opened. The price reflects the time on the floor and the time at the chair — not a different haircut, just a slower one. If you want to know what the cut feels like at the very top of the trade, this is the chair.

Booking

By appointment only. Slots are released on the first Sunday of each month for the month ahead, and they go quickly. If you don’t see one open, telephone the shop and we’ll put you on the chair’s list.
